In this course, students will develop skills necessary for effective communication
in French in a
variety of situations. Situations include the everyday exchange of greetings
or other courtesies,
making or responding to introductions or invitations, asking or giving directions,
and sharing
information about oneself, one’s family, friends or school, or about
special interests such as food, travel and entertainment. There will be emphasis
on grammatical structures and vocabulary. Through video, films, and a variety
of other media, students will also build their knowledge the people and the
country of France and other French speaking areas of the world.

history and
entertainment of the French speaking world.

AP French language Exam,
which is given in the spring of each year.

Students taking Japanese V will be entered for the IB Standard
Level examination in Japanese as a foreign language. In this course,
the students will explore cultural issues as they relate to the

global and social issues) as they relate to Japan. Upon completion
of this course, students should recognize the 400 most frequently
used kanji. The student will be asked to read authentic materials
on a regular basis. A strong emphasis will be placed on developing
students’ oral-aural
skills.
* The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a program
of study that is recognized by the
universities and colleges of over 157 countries as representing
college level work. Students
taking the IB Japanese examination will earn an IB certificate
and college credit if he/she
