Middle School Poetry Slam 2006
Third Annual Poetry Slam a Success
Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students, parents, teachers, and guests
gathered on Wednesday evening April 26 to applaud our middle school budding
poets as they read their original work. Candles flickered on black bistro
tables and a red brick wall backdrop highlighted the stage as students performed
poetry accompanied by instruments and friends. Delicious refreshments including
decaf coffee, creamers, hot chocolate, cookies, brownies, fruit and other
snacks were supplied by our awesome parents. Judges awarded first place
prize of $25 to Taylor G., A.K.A. T-bone on his saxophone for his poem The
Homework Blues. Second place prize of $15 was awarded to Travis P., Matt
L., Phil H., and Kai E. for their poem Chick Problems. Luke G., with back
up from Ty N. and Troy T., was awarded third place prize $10 for his poem
My Ants. Poems were fabulous and everyone had a hilarious time! See you
next year - same time, same place!
