Standards:

  1. Movement Forms/Skills: Demonstrate successful movement forms at a basic level and some movement forms at a mastery level.
    • Performance Assessment = 20%
    • Graded in performance tests by uni
  1. Cognitive Concepts: Apply movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.
    • Knowledge/Concepts = 20%
    • Graded by written test, discussions and verbal questions and answers by unit.
  1. Active Lifestyle/Physical Fitness/Participation: Values and maintains healthy lifestyle.  Rubric attached.
    • Is dressed appropriately and participates fully in class = 30%
    • Graded by class participation. Daily.
  1. Responsible Personal and Social Behavior:
    • Levels of responsibility in class = 30%
    • Graded by levels of responsibility.  Weekly.  Rubric attached.

Units for the year:
Cooperative Games, Pedometer, Volleyball, Fitness testing, (Fitness testing is based on self-improvement) Softball, Basketball, Field Games, Soccer, Dance, Swimming, Water polo, Synchronize Swimming and Basketball.

Developing the Healthy Me:
Students will understand the importance of living a physically active lifestyle.  In order to get a 5 in participation the student must be able to give an example of a physical activity they have done over the week.
 
Full time Lifeguard:  Le Jardin Academy now has a full time lifeguard on staff.  This allows our PE classes to use the pool more throughout the school year.  Students must have their Le Jardin bathing suit and towel in their locker at all times.  They must be ready to go swimming if it is required.

Course Requirements:

  • Proper Attire: each student will be responsible and accountable to be prepared for Physical Education Class.  They need to wear the following: Le Jardin PE shirt, Le Jardin PE shorts and Athletic shoes with laces.  A description of the appropriate swimming attire is in the parent’s handbook.  NO bikinis, NO two piece bathing suits ie (Tankinis). They need to wear the Le Jardin bathing suit/board shorts there will be NO exceptions.  Failure to comply will result in a zero for that day.
  • Be on time.  Three tardies will result in an absence.
