Third Grade Music

Students practice singing on pitch and learn rhythms, they blend vocal timbres, respond to cues of a conductor, and sing contrasting parts. The recorder and ukulele are added at grade 3. At grade 4, Hawaiian instruments are added. Grade 5 is the discovery level. Students learn breath control, how to tune an instrument appropriately, improvise short songs with rhythmic variations, and identify the sound of a variety of instruments from various cultures. They learn to enjoy listening.
