In Kindergarten art class, we explore various two and three diminsional media while applying the elements and principles of art. Students are exposed to important artwork from across the globe, past and present. Discussions involve making comparisons and considering questions such as why people make art and what makes a work of art great. They are also encouraged to be observant of the world around them. Lessons typically tie in to grade level themes. Work is accumulated in each child's portfolio, and everyone has a piece in the school-wide Arts Festival at the end of the year.
