First Grade Music

The music program for Kindergarten and First Grade is geared to provide enjoyable musical experiences based on the following five principals: singing, listening, playing, moving, and creating. The students enjoy singing with a wide repertoire of age appropriate songs and finger plays and ar provided with a variety of listening experiences in which they will achieve the ability to respond emotionally to music. They play melodic and non-melodic percussion instruments to encourage rhythmic ability. Responding to sound through movement, they learn and perform various songs with choreographed moves. The students are given the opportunity to create music through instruments and voice and able to respond creatively to music through free dance.
