Brain Games
While we were studying the brain, everyone in
our class created "brain games". Each group would
brainstorm ideas for a game in which you had to use your brain.
Next,
the members of the group would bring in the supplies needed.
My group's game was called "Sense It". In the game,
you had to use your senses (sight, smell, touch, hearing, and
taste) to complete the tasks. There were so many people
in line (I think they only came for the candy), that there
was always a traffic jam. Everyone else had excellent brain
games, too!

Brain Trip
One day, we traveled to the Bishop Museum Brain
Exhibit to continue our studies with the brain. When I got
in the exhibit, I was amazed. The exhibit had real brains on
display! There were dolphin, dog, human, and rabbit brains.
It even had a model of a dinosaur brain! All over the exhibit,
there were games and tests for your brain. While doing
the brain tests, I learned that doctors use X-rays to locate
tumors in one's brain. That excursion was amazing!

Brain Demo
I never thought that I would be able to touch
a real brain, unless I became a surgeon. But I was wrong.
Dr. Belnap came to our school and showed us a real, human brain!
She told us about it, and showed many parts of the
brain, including the inside of it! That day, I learned many
things that I didn't know before, for example, that the brain
had an outer covering, and that blood vessels ran along it.
Now I know how you get a stroke. Finally, we got to touch
it! That was one of the best days ever.

Rites of Passage
One day in class, we started learning about
rites of passage. Rites of passage are observations of important
stages of life. For one of our projects on this subjects, our
class had to write "how to" papers, which would tell what to
do in a rites of passage. The papers were lists, and my topic
was hygiene. I think everyone did a great job!
